In 1692, an important chapter in the history of Port began. Job Bearsley, an English merchant, travelled to Portugal to venture into the wine business, founding the company we now know as Taylor's. Today, it is one of the oldest and most renowned Port producers, and its Ports are considered amongst the finest in the world.
Taylor’s Port house toasted its 325th anniversary with the unveiling of a limited-edition Reserve Tawny, which had travelled from the Douro to London by yacht. Aged for 18 months, wine-maker David Guimararens describes it as a ‘cherry picking’ of the best wines earmarked for the house’s 10-, 20-, 30- and 40-year-old tawny Ports.
“Deep chestnut brown core encircled by a narrow brick rim. A rich figgy nose with a background of toffee and mocha, notes of plum and apricot, spicy hints of black pepper, nutmeg and fleeting scents of jasmine, all come together in a heady complex harmony. Dense and luscious on the palate, with a wonderful velvety smoothness. The mellow flavours of butterscotch and molasses merge with rich jammy red berry flavours, a perfect blend of youth and maturity”
Presented in a special commemorative bottle inspired by the ‘onion’ shape that graced the tables of Job Bearsley and those of his loyal customers, Taylors Anniversary Port is the perfect match for moments of relaxation and indulgence anytime of the day.
