Based at Ings between Kendal & Windermere in the heart of The Lake District National Park, Lakeland Vintners are an independent and family run wholesale wine merchant with our own warehouse & office, in-house logistics team and a large varied portfolio of long-standing customers. We are well placed to supply customers across Cumbria into North Lancashire.

Founded in 1979 by Tony Jackson, the business has since grown in to a thriving wholesale wine business. In 1991 the business acquired larger premises based at Ings and continued to establish itself as one of the Lake District’s leading wine merchants throughout the North West.

In 2012 Lakeland Vintners was acquired by House of Townend, a long-established family owned wine merchant. This secured the long-term future of Lakeland Vintners, and ensured it remained independent and family owned. Established in 1906 and led by fourth generation John Charles Townend, House of Townend have been awarded the International Wine Challenge Regional Merchant of the Year for North East England 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014, and the International Wine Challenge Regional Merchant of the Year for Northern England 2017. They have also been named the winner of the Corporate Live Wire Innovation and Excellence Awards - Independent Wine Merchant of the Year for both 2017 and 2018 and were shortlisted for the Drinks Business Awards On-Trade Supplier of the Year for 2018.
